Renton Municipal Airport, Clayton Scott Field

The Renton Municipal Airport, owned by the City of Renton, is a general aviation airport which serves Renton and other nearby communities. The airport provides regional aviation services for air charter, air taxi, corporate, business and recreational flyers. It is also an FAA-designated "Reliever" airport, diverting general aviation aircraft traffic from Sea-Tac International Airport.

The airport is located approximately 25 minutes south of downtown Seattle to the northwest and Bellevue to the north, and is situated in the center of the regional transportation network that connects State Highways 167, 169, 515 and 900 to Interstate Highways 5, 405 and 90.

The Airport is used predominately by single-engine piston aircraft, and ranks among the top six airports in the State of Washington in terms of aircraft landings and takeoffs. The Boeing Commercial Airplane Company, located adjacent to the airport, manufactures Boeing 737 aircraft and uses the airport for their initial flights.

Seaplane (or floatplane) operations from the Will Rogers-Wiley Post Memorial Seaplane Base, located at the north end of the airport along the shore of Lake Washington, also comprise a significant level of activity at the airport. The seaplane facilities include a floating dock and launching ramp, which make the Renton Municipal Airport one of the few airports in the Pacific Northwest where aircraft can land on wheels and depart from the water, or vice versa, if they have the correct equipment.

The Renton Municipal Airport is a Landing Rights Airport, with US Customs services available for both floatplane and wheeled aircraft arriving by water or by land.

City of Newcastle Profile and History

For family-oriented people who want to escape from urban sprawl, Newcastle combines the convenience and choices of urban living with the comfort and community of a small town. Only in Newcastle can residents and visitors live, work, shop, and play with stunning views, commute easily to the best jobs in the Pacific Northwest, and return home to live in balance with nature in a community that respects their values.

Newcastle has an unusually rich history for a city its size. It played a vital role in opening up the Seattle region for expansion. In many ways, it was the poster child for development in the Pacific Northwest in the late 1800s—rail, coal, and timber were the key themes of this time, and Newcastle was at the nexus of all of them. Newcastle 's coal mine and railroad helped transform Seattle into a major port.

In 1872, between 75-100 tons of coal was produced each day in Newcastle ; by the time the mine closed for the last time in 1963, more than13 million tons had been extracted. Its legacy remains ever-present in local place names such as Coal Creek Parkway , and China Creek Golf Course. An active, well-informed, and passionate group of citizens remain committed to sharing Newcastle's history with visitors and residents.
The City celebrates Newcastle Days at a community festival each September. The City was officially incorporated in 1994.

Sunrider 'Pumps Up' the Excitement at the Arnold Sports Festival 2008

Sunrider International was once again a main sponsor of the annual Arnold Sports Festival, held this year February 29 – March 2, in Columbus, Ohio. The goal of the 3-day event is to promote "a weekend of sports and a lifetime of fitness." The world's largest "multi-sport fitness weekend" featured more than 17,000 athletes participating in 37 events, including 12 Olympic sports. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger co-produced the event, which was attended by over 150,000 sports fans and fitness enthusiasts, and that has now expanded into three venues: The Greater Columbus Convention Center, Veterans Memorial, and Nationwide Arena. This year also marked the 20th anniversary of the Festival's centerpiece event—the Arnold Classic—which is considered to be among the most prestigious bodybuilding competitions in the world.

One of the main reasons Sunrider started sponsoring the Arnold Sports Festival in 2006 was to provide financial support to showcase top athletes from China. Sunrider was proud this year to sponsor Zhang Jie and his teammate Lu Changliang, junior weightlifting champions from the Chinese Weightlifting Association. Both of these world-class athletes wowed the crowds with their performances during the competition.

A highlight of the Festival is the Arnold Fitness Expo, which showcases the latest nutritional products, fitness programs, and virtually everything else related to healthy living. There were 650 booths this year, situated amidst an amazing array of ongoing stage entertainment. The venue provided the perfect environment to introduce attendees to Sunrider International—the global company that has been successfully providing "Health and Wealth" to the world for over 25 years. Sunrider was well represented at its booth with North America Sales Manager John Teng and Sunrider IBOs actively promoting the Sunrider business opportunity and products.

This year was also special, as Sunrider not only supported the Arnold Sports Festival as a sponsor, but also represented itself with John Teng competing in the amateur bodybuilding event, placing 5th place in the highly competitive welterweight division. John was thrilled by the experience and explained how Sunrider® products played an important role in his pre-competition training: "My dietary supplementation for this show came only from Sunrider's exclusively formulated 'foods' made with our own pharmaceutical-grade manufacturing equipment to ensure the highest quality."

John Teng summed up the incredible experience by saying, "Sunrider was honored to participate both as a sponsor and as a competitor during this very special anniversary year for the Arnold Sports Festival and we look forward to continued involvement in the years to come."

Companies like Sunrider™ are not equipped to sell to the end user (the person consuming the products), but expect the their distributors to do the job.

Sometimes this is very difficult since advertising and marketing can be very expensive, and not every distributor is a salesperson. Finding customers for the companies products or services can be a real challenge, especially for a new distributor that lacks product knowledge and sales experience.

The traditional way of acquiring customers is to purchase leads. The independent reps have to cold call the leads, and try to get people interested in their company or products. Another strategy is to bring in friends and family to the business and hopefully they will do the same. The end result of these combined strategies is rejection and a very small percentage of people signing up. If these particular strategies worked the majority of people entering a MLM or network marketing business would be highly successful. Instead they are not!

Sunrider™ obviously has all the bases covered when it comes to products, comp plans, fast start bonuses and all the rest of the elements seen in MLM businesses. Sunrider™ is dedicated to assisting their distributors to become successful. Although MLM marketing is a tough game, you must be willing to work hard, never quit, and keep the information flowing consistently, in order to make sales.

What about buying Sunrider Leads to build my business?

Should I buy Sunrider leads to build my business? What is the ROI (return on investment) that I can expect from purchasing Sunrider Leads? How many other people are being sold the same leads, even though the leads are promoted as being fresh and responsive?

Are you tired of the hype, lies and misrepresentation from lead brokers? Why not consider the alternative?

Never Buy Sunrider Leads Again . . . Buy Customers Not Sunrider Leads . . . No More Cold Calling

Enter The Ultimate Team! They teach you how to buy customers Not leads to build your home business. These are not distributors; these a real customers who want to buy products. It even gets better! You don't have to advertise for these customers or even talk to them.

Kent Community Human services

The City of Kent has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to addressing the human service needs of Kent residents.

Kent is recognized as a leader in South King County in the human services arena.

The City has been funding nonprofit human service agencies to provide services to its residents since 1974.

In 1989 the City took a major step by allocating one (1) percent of its general fund revenue to fund human services. This nearly doubled the amount of funding in the first year. In addition, the City has consistently allocated the maximum allowable of its federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) dollars to human services.

2007-2012 Human Services Master Plan

The City of Kent Human Services Commission and the Housing and Human Services staff have developed a proposed 6 Year Human Services Plan to guide planning and funding as well as the evaluation of services in the Kent community.
You can get a copy of Housing & Human Services Master Plan here.

South King County Response to Homelessness

The plan and the strategies included are designed to serve the two-fold purpose of providing housing and service providers, planners, government officials and funders with key information on the state of homelessness in South King County and a guide to strategies and actions that can be employed in a coordinated response to homelessness in our communities.

You can get a copy of South King County Response to Homelessness: A Call for Action here.

Renton Real Estate Blog and Kent 50+

Get the best of the Northwest, without high prices, hassle, traffic and expensive parking!

Let's take a look at some of our wonderful neighbors.

The city of Kent has some wonderful programs for the baby boomers. Check out a program called Kent 50+

According to national demographers, nearly 76 million baby boomers (born between '46 and '64) are expected to turn 50 in the next 20 years. For various reasons, most will never consider themselves "seniors" nor explore programs and services offered at a senior center. Thus, many may miss out on needed physical and social services. Combined with dwindling federal, state and local human services, this mis-connection could further erode the quality of life for millions of older Americans.

After nearly 13 years in transition, Kent 50+ is the new name of the marketing focus developed by the City of Kent Parks, Recreation & Community Services Senior Activity Center. The Kent Senior Activity Center is NOT changing its name or programs. It is merely adding an identity to a new marketing focus for ongoing programs that will allow its transition for tomorrow's seniors.

Kent 50+ is the City of Kent's effort to bridge the marketing gap created by the average boomer's aversion to the word "senior". Its goal is simple: Connect boomers with today's senior center by projecting an active lifestyle image, relevant social and educational options and inspiring volunteer opportunities. This includes:

Ongoing adventure activities and multigenerational special events will be sponsored by the Kent + Program in addition to the Kent Senior Activity Center.
Corporate co-sponsors may help with production of promotional materials in exchange for inclusion of company logos or advertising on materials.

Seniors may have more success when inviting their boomer offspring to participate in a Kent 50+ program hosted at our senior center, but NOT labeled a "senior" event.

While the efforts may be subtle, the benefits will be far reaching:
Younger volunteers will be ready when progressing volunteers move on.
Individuals and companies exploring involvement will be better able to identify with this new focus.

The more younger people visit and participate, the more inclined they will be to use services when needed or co-sponsor activities if/when they're able.

The Kent 50+ program combines the City of Kent and the Kent Parks, Recreation & Community Services Dept. mission statements: Dedicated to Enriching Lives by Connecting for Success! The main goal is to connect the senior center and the community with ways to define and find success. . .
through establishing relationships, enhancing significance, preserving dignity, and making a positive impact in our community, our nation, and our world.

For more information please contact the Senior Activity Center

Let's take a look at some of our wonderful neighbors.
Kent Station

Arrive by car, bus, commuter train, foot or bike. Enjoy dinner at one of 11 new eating establishments, access the Internet for free on your laptop in the 30,000 square foot outdoor plaza which includes an outdoor, two sided fireplace and water feature, and catch the latest Hollywood blockbuster movie on one of 14 movie screens at AMC Theatre. It's all possible in downtown Kent at Kent Station.
Information about tenants, special events and driving directions can be found at www.kentstation.com.

Phase I of Kent Station is currently underway and is scheduled to open this fall. It will include 80,000 additional square feet of retail. Tarragon, the developer, is focused on landing several teen and Generation Y clothing retailers, as well as signing more traditional apparel retailers. Phase III of the project is 140 residential units, and Phase IV of the project will be additional space for GRCC.
What is the Kent Station Project?
Kent Station is the realization of the City of Kent's vision to create a destination downtown that is the community's focal point and identity. Kent Station is a $100 million, 470,000 square-foot retail, education, entertainment and residential project. The project is strategically located adjacent to Sound Transit's Sounder Commuter Rail Station and parking garage, Kent's existing downtown and the King County Regional Justice Center. The developer for the project is Tarragon Development, and the project is being constructed on 18.2 acres of property that the City purchased in 2001.
How Did the City Start the Project?
The City of Kent has a longstanding vision to create a more vital and identifiable downtown. Both the Kent Comprehensive Plan (1995) and the Downtown Strategic Action Plan (1998) articulate the vision for an expanded downtown with retail, office, residential and entertainment uses located adjacent to transit.
To further the downtown vision, the City made two strategic investments. First, in 1999 the City agreed to contribute $4 million to Sound Transit for the construction of a structured parking facility at the Commuter Rail Station. Four million dollars was the price difference between building a surface parking lot, the original proposal, and a structured parking facility. Sound Transit commenced commuter rail service in February 2001, helping to connect Kent commuters to downtown Seattle and eventually Tacoma. The parking structure opened in March 2002.
Second, the City purchased 19.9 contiguous acres of property in the downtown core (adjacent to the Sounder commuter rail station and parking garage) between 1999 and 2001 for $14 million. Purchase of the property enables the City to stimulate and control redevelopment of prime downtown property that was in industrial use. A majority of this property was in use by the Borden Chemical Plant, which at the time was a successful and profitable manufacturing plant in downtown Kent.
How was the Developer Selected?
After purchasing the property, the City, through a competitive process, selected the developer to continue discussions about the future development of the City-purchased site. A community panel reviewed proposals that were submitted by several developers. In addition, throughout the process, the City has hosted a series of open houses to gather public input to shape the vision and details for the project. These open houses have been attended by more than 500 individuals from the area. The developer applied for permits for the project in November 2002, and the City's Hearing Examiner conditionally approved the project in January 2003.
In January 2004 the City Council approved the sale of property to the developer for construction of Phase I of the project. On June 29, 2004, the City closed on the sale of the first 10.5 acres (out of 18.2) to Tarragon. Tarragon purchased the balance of the property in December 2005, which will allow them to construct Phases II, III and IV.
What is the City Investment and Return?
In addition to purchasing the property, the City committed resources to the project by completing an environmental review process for the site. In July 2002, the City Council adopted a "Planned Action Ordinance", which spells out the environmental mitigation that will be required as part of development of the site. Finally, the City invested $2.2 million in infrastructure improvements to the site, including environmental clean-up and construction of Ramsay Way, a street which will is the pedestrian and vehicle front door of the project. City efforts to build this key piece of infrastructure have been bolstered by two significant grants: $900,000 in federal transportation funds and $900,000 in state economic development funds. Groundbreaking for the new street occurred on August 13, 2002.
Kent Station is a once in a lifetime opportunity to grow Kent's economy and to create a mixed-use destination downtown next to mass transit. Overall, the City is investing $17.3 million into the project which will become Kent's new economic anchor, is projected to create over 500 jobs and will provide a more vital and identifiable City Center with homes, jobs, services and shopping to serve the greater Kent community. The long-term payback revenues from the project will come from the phased sale of the land to the developer and tax revenues.
